About Me

Me in black and white

Hi! I’m Anne, and I want to help you make self-sufficiency work for you.

It’s not a one-size-fits-all situation!

I freely admit it: I’m not actually “homesteading” in the traditional sense. If you’re a purist, you’re going to be so mad at me.

But there are a lot of great homesteaders out there who say that you can homestead at any level that works for you. You don’t need to quit your job, buy 100 acres in the woods and start felling trees to build your home. You can take a single step, then another and then just keep going.

This is your life. Make it amazing.

(And don’t listen to the purists!)

About Part-Time Homesteading

Welcome to Part-Time Homesteading — where the journey to self-sufficiency fits into real life! We believe that anyone, no matter how busy or new to homesteading, can take small steps toward a more sustainable, fulfilling lifestyle.

Here, you’ll find practical tips, easy-to-follow guides, and inspiration for integrating homesteading into your life, even if you can only do it part-time.

Our philosophy is simple: self-reliance doesn’t have to mean all-or-nothing. You don’t need acres of land, a massive budget, or endless free hours to start your journey. It’s about making the most of what you have — whether that’s a small yard, a balcony garden, or even just a sunny windowsill — and learning skills that help you rely more on yourself and less on grocery stores or conventional products.

Here, you’ll find everything from gardening advice and simple DIYs to cooking tips, food preservation techniques, and seasonal projects. Each piece of content is created to be approachable, realistic, and rewarding, helping you connect with nature, save money, and bring fresh food into your home.

We’re here to show you that homesteading is for everyone. You don’t have to make a full-time commitment to make a meaningful difference.

Whether you’re just starting or looking to expand your homesteading skills, we’re so glad to have you here. Let’s dig in, learn together, and build a self-sufficient life that works for you — one step at a time!

A note on images

I just wanted to let you know that I do use some stock photos and AI-generated images on this site. I confess! I’m not trying to sneak anything past you. My photography skills aren’t amazing yet, and there are sometimes clearer and better ways to show you specific ideas. When it makes sense, I use my own photos! However, I love AI and AI-powered tools, and since I’m not a full-time homesteader/blogger, I use the tools I have to help you discover what you can do with the time, space , and skills you have.
